Another very successful Boxing Night organised by the Brethren of Lodge Old Monkland St. James No. 177 recently raised the fantastic sum of £11,500 for Yorkhill Hospital . This year the Lodge decided to sponsor Clown Doctors a specialist group, who make children’s time in hospital more fun. The Brethren of 177 have over the years been very supportive of Yorkhill Hospital and we congratulate them on their efforts.

The Brethren of Lodge St. Bryde No. 579 recently donated £200 to St. Andrew`s Hospice and £50 to Quarriers Homes.

Following the Regular meeting of the 3rd March 2010 the IPM Bro. Robert McCormick  Of Lodge Airdrie St. John No. 166 presented the 2010 Charity cheques to the following eight recipients:
Marie Curie Cancer Care £250, Lanarkshire Cancer Care £250, Guide Dogs Scotland £250, Motor Neurone Scotland £250, Airdrie Hospice £250, Yorkhill Children's Foundation £250, MacMillan Cancer Support £250 and the Meningitis Research Foundation £250 -the Charity nominated by the Ladies of the Lodge – (A total of £2000).  Each of the recipients updated the brethren about the work of their own organisation and in turn thanked the Lodge for their generous donation.   The IPM, Bro. Robert McCormick, thanked the Charity organisations for attending and for their ongoing work in their own field.

FANTASTIC !

Bro. James L. Jack, Provincial Grand Master was delighted to hear of the fantastic Non Masonic Fund Raising by Lodge Old Monkland St. James No. 177.

The Lodge presented a cheque for £12, 295 to Yorkhill Childrens Foundation which was the proceeds of a Boxing Night and a generous donation of £3295 from a friend of the Lodge who had run the London Marathon and donated the money that he had raised to the Lodges total.

The Lodge also gave £1350 to Combat Stress in Ayr to assist soldiers and ex soldiers and a further donation of £550 was made to the Wester Moffat Hospital , Airdrie.

A FANTASTIC TOTAL of  £14,195.

Provincial Grand Lodge made a donation of £300 to The Sunshine Centre in Johannesburg , South Africa . The Centre cares for children with severe learning difficulties and is supported by The District Grand Lodge of Central South Africa.

Provincial Grand Master received donations of £150 from the Bowling Section and £172 from the Golf Section at the Regular Communication on 2nd. October.

Friday 18th September

At the annual “Lodge Charity Dance”, five local charities were each presented with a cheque for £250 by the R.W.M. Brother Robert Paterson.  The dance was held in the Lodge premises in New Stevenston and was well attended by members, friends, partners and representatives of the various charities. The money had been raised by the Lodge members through various fund raising events over the past months. 

The charities and their representatives were:-

Bobby Hill – Voluntary Association for Mental Welfare

Betty Youngston – Wishaw Stroke Group

Lodge Caldercruix- St John - 1314

The Lodge annual sponsored walk which took place on June 13th 2009 this year raised in excess of £2000 which we have donated to the following charities: 

£1000 - Airdrie Hospice, £250 - Capability Scotland, £250 - Enable Scotland, £250 - Parkinson's, £250 - Oncology Department  - Monklands Hospital.

RNLI – Girvan. £400

A special meeting was arranged for Saturday 9th May 2009 at Lodge Girvan St. Johns’ No.237, the evening was attended by Lodge St Bryde, Uddingston No.579 .The evenings fundraising collected the sum of £400 which was presented by Bro. Robert Laird, Right Worshipful Master of Girvan to the RNLI Girvan Crew members in attendance.

Lodge St. Bryde 579 also donated £200 to the local Primary Schools.

Rome Marathon .

Brothers Calum Stewart, P.M. Lodge St. Enoch No. 1288 and Bro. John Anderson, W.J.W. Lodge Hamilton No. 233 ran the Rome Marathon in March for St Andrew’s Hospice. They raised £2000 between them and passed the monies to Bob Reid at St Andrew’s.

The lodge recently received a cheque for £690.00 from Lodge Pleydell 4687 (EC) Swindon for the new caravan appeal. This is the third such generous gesture from Pleydell Lodge having now donated a total of £1,000.00 to the appeal through their friendship with the Brethren of Lodge Buchanan.

Lodge Heatheryknowe No 1461

S.P.G.M. Tom Davidson received a cheque for £50 to be split between the Caravan Fund and the New Caravan Appeal Fund.

 

The Brethren of Lodge Avon 1231 recently held a sponsored walk around Strathclyde Park. The proceeds of the walk were presented in a cheque for £500.00 to MacMillan Cancer Support.

by R.W.M Bro Derek James Ashwood.

New Monkland Montrose No 88

The Lodge presented a cheque for £1,600.00  to BLISS (The Neonatal Charity, which provides financial and emotional support to the families of sick premature and newborn babies) on the above occasion.   This amount  was made up of  £1,100.00 from private donations and money received from the sale of 2 quiz sheets within the Lodge, and the remainder was a donation of £500.00 from St Andrew's Cork Lodge, Possilpark.

Wednesday 21st. January 2009.

Bro. James L. Jack, Provincial Grand Master and Bro. William Craig, Provincial Grand Secretary attended the offices of The Lanarkshire Deaf Club this morning to present a cheque for £250. The Club is based in the Daisy Park Centre, Motherwell and organises various social activities for deaf people in the area.

The £250 cheque was a milestone in that it took the Non Masonic Charity Fund Raising activities of our Lodges in the Province in the past two years to over £100,000. A truly fantastic effort.
